Our Commitment to Privacy
Welcome to Slidew by BD NeuroLabs ("we," "us," or "our"). Our mission is to provide a safe, effective, and engaging learning environment. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information on our platform (the "Service"). Our privacy practices are guided by these core principles:
- Data Minimization: We only collect data that is essential to provide and improve our educational tools.
- No Advertising: Student data is never used for advertising or marketing purposes.
- We Do Not Sell Data: We will never sell or rent your personal information to third parties.
- Security by Design: We build our platform with robust security measures to protect your information.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information in two main ways: information provided by educators and data generated through the use of our platform.
A. Teacher & School Administrator Information
When an educator or administrator creates an account, we collect necessary information to manage that account:
- Contact Information: Full name and email address.
- Professional Information: School or institution name.
B. Student Information
Student accounts are created and managed by their teacher or school. We intentionally limit the personal information collected from students.
- Account Details: A student's first name, last name, or a teacher-assigned username.
- Performance Data: We collect data on student progress within Slidew's games, such as completion time, moves, and scores. This data is only visible to the student and their assigned teacher(s) for educational assessment.
What We DO NOT Collect from Students: To protect student privacy, we do not require or collect student email addresses, phone numbers, home addresses, or any other sensitive personal contact information.
C. Technical Information (Automatically Collected)
- Functional Data: We collect non-personal technical information, like browser type and IP address, to ensure the platform runs smoothly, to provide technical support, and to improve the user experience.
- Essential Cookies: We use cookies solely for essential functions, like keeping users logged in during a session. We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising.
2. How We Use Information
All data is used exclusively for educational purposes:
- To operate and maintain the Slidew platform.
- To enable teachers to create lessons and track student academic progress.
- To allow students to access their assigned learning games.
- To improve our Service and develop new educational features.
- To communicate with educators about account management and service updates.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not share personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Ever.
We only share information in these limited situations:
- With Your School: Student performance data is accessible to the verified teachers and administrators associated with that student's account.
- With Our Service Providers: We work with vetted third-party companies for essential services like web hosting. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and are prohibited from using it for any other purpose.
- For Legal Reasons: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety and integrity of our users and platform.
4. Data Security
We take the security of your data seriously. We use a combination of technical, administrative, and physical controls to protect your information, including:
- Encryption: Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Access Control: We use strict Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) to ensure users can only access data they are authorized to see.
- Regular Audits: We regularly review our security practices to protect against unauthorized access.
5. Student Privacy & Our Partnership with Schools
We operate as a "Data Processor" on behalf of the schools and teachers who use our Service. The school remains the "Data Controller" of the student data.
We rely on the school or teacher to obtain any necessary parental consent for a student to use Slidew. We are committed to complying with applicable data protection laws in the jurisdictions we operate in, including the principles of the UAE's Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL).
6. Your Rights and Controls
You are in control of your data. Teachers and administrators can review, edit, or delete their own information and the student accounts they manage. To request data deletion or access, please contact your school administrator or contact us directly for assistance.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify registered users via email and update the "Last Updated" date on this page.
